Mahatma Gandhi once said these wise words ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’ ….
Thought provoking words from a man who once walked the earth delivering a message to humankind…the question is, how does this affect us, collectively in our everyday lives?
Considering our responsibilities, work, play, exercise, eating, sleeping, travel, relationships with our family, friends, partners, business associates and the list continues…as human beings we’ve created a ‘smorgasboard’ of our everyday goals & responsibilities in our everyday living. When do we actually find the time to reflect and be ‘still’ to see where we fit in the bigger ‘universal picture?’
A Zen Buddhist teacher, once shared this analogy with me, about the power of example or being a ‘role model.’ He explained, by throwing a simple pebble into a calm pond or lake, this action creates the ‘ripple effect’ and so we at times, can be the pebble, causing this exact effect. The words we choose to speak and how we intend them to be towards another, can either be like an arrow or be as soft rose petals…..
Words are ‘energy’, what we say, gossip, (celebrity gossip is a good example), negative words has an impactful effect not only on others, but ourselves too. Positive words and thoughts have the opposite effect (as like soft rose petals) being sent to the other person. By being mindful of how we choose our words on a daily basis, lightens our hearts and minds…and so in process we in choosing, can create a positive ripple effect…..
Collectively, we are sharing this green, Mother Earth together and we can make a difference on how we choose to see our part in the bigger ‘universal picture.’ Are we to use our time here on planet earth wisely, with a more ‘conscious’ approach towards our every day living…? Which firstly, starts with ourselves (our job is not try to change others, but ourselves first). 🙂 To view the Eco Conscious Charities, I’m inspired to support, please view the links ~
