The author, Paulo Coelho who wrote the book ‘The Alchemist’ wrote – “The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.” “Remember, that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”
So, here I find myself, back to my land of roots, traveling through Africa. Personal transformation, is an inward journey and can and does have global effects. As we go, so does the world, for the world is within us, as above so below, mother earth and father sky. As within so without. Change can only occur externally, when we make internal change. So the Phoenix rises from the ashes..
Ironically the Greek historian Herodotus (484 BC) wrote, the Phoenix was a bird from Ethiopia (North Africa). The myth of the ‘Phoenix Rising’ explains, how the Phoenix sitting in its nest created a huge deal of heat and set itself on fire….Yet, after three days the Phoenix emerged from its own ashes. A personal transformation of renewal.
My travels, the past 18 months has taken me to the depth of the island of Bali, to East Java, Indonesia to its emerald pastures, of rice paddy fields, deep jungle, to the highest volcano and the deep blue oceans. Discovering, my new love and passion for free diving and qualifying in my intro scuba diving course. The big blue ocean has once again, captivated my inner being, spirit and has taught me about ‘surrendering’, to the Great Mother ocean, when the under current, becomes too strong and the tide changes, going with the natural ebb & flow. The encounters of the marine life and it’s lucid beauty or facing a huge unfriendly Trigger fish, ready to eat you for lunch, a gentle reminder that Mother Nature is in charge!
When I’m free diving, within the great blue abyss, trusting the connection with nature, being humble in the ocean and understanding that I’m just a guest visiting their underwater kingdom, makes you feel really tiny, yet infinitely connected with all marine life. Free diving and scuba diving, has taught me the importance of the simplicity of breathe, even more than before, being absolutely present, mindful, internally focused, connecting with all life and being ‘One’ with mother nature. A journey of self discovery within the depths of the deep blue ocean.
Over 70% of the planet earth is made up of water and we tend to know more about the galaxies and star system, than we know about the deepest blue oceans.
Like the Phoenix Bird arising from the ashes, with a new self discovery of personal transformation, I’m looking forward to the New Year Ahead 2017. We have global challenges, environmental and political, but the more we collectively join together in a heightened sense of consciousness and mindful awareness, compassion and understanding, most importantly respecting Mother Nature, our big blue oceans. The sooner we can begin on the greener road to clearing up our planet earth.
With the New Year 2017 just begun, I contribute my blogging and writing towards environmental concerns toward the marine life and ecology of our oceans.
